About The Position

The Yard Jockey is responsible for moving trailers around the yard and to the dock for loading, and inspecting yard trailers. The role includes keeping trailer fuel levels up and trailers clean before loading, as well as maintaining the storage lot. The position involves working in extreme weather and may require weekend work or work when needed. The employee works with little supervision and performs other duties assigned by a lead or supervisor.

Requirements

• Truck driving skills, including pulling, loading, and unloading trailers.
• Basic math and reading skills.
• Ability to operate a pallet jack.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to stand for the duration of all scheduled work hours.
• Ability to use both hands and grasp.
• Good eyesight, with or without corrective lenses.
• Ability to reach and bend forward.
• Some physical strength.
• Ability to perform tasks requiring repetitive motion.

Responsibilities

• Pull and drop trailers in the yard and move them to the dock for loading.
• Inspect yard trailers.
• Keep trailers fueled and clean before loading.
• Maintain the storage lot.
• Work in extreme weather and be available to work weekends or when needed.
• Work with little supervision.
• Perform other duties assigned by a lead or supervisor.
• Use required personal protective equipment and follow company safety guidelines.
