About The Position

The Yard Jockey is responsible for moving trailers around the yard and to the dock for loading, inspecting yard trailers, keeping trailers fueled and clean before loading, and maintaining the storage lot. The role involves working in varying temperatures and occasionally wet, dirty, and dusty environments, including extreme weather. The employee works with little supervision and performs other duties as assigned by a lead or supervisor.

Requirements

• Truck-driving skills, including pulling, loading, and unloading trailers.
• Basic math and reading skills.
• Ability to operate a pallet jack.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to stand for the duration of all scheduled hours.
• Ability to use both hands and grasp objects.
• Good eyesight, with or without corrective lenses.
• Ability to reach and bend forward.
• Some physical strength.
• Ability to perform tasks requiring repetitive motion.
• Availability to work in extreme weather and on weekends or when needed.

Responsibilities

• Pull and drop trailers in the yard and move them to the dock for loading.
• Inspect yard trailers.
• Keep trailers fueled and clean before loading.
• Maintain the storage lot.
• Work with little supervision and perform other duties assigned by a lead or supervisor.
• Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow company safety guidelines.
