About The Position

Lakeshore is seeking a full-time Yard Hostler for its Midway, Kentucky Distribution Center. The role is responsible for safely positioning assigned trailers at loading and unloading doors and staging areas. The position also involves cleaning trailers as needed, communicating with supervisors about shift progress and observed truck issues, following safety rules and using required safety equipment, updating the Yard Management System (YMS), and assisting with warehouse associate duties as needed. Overtime may be required.

Requirements

• Valid CDL license required.
• 2–3 years of experience in a similar role.
• Proven ability to maneuver trailers, including turning, backing, and docking.
• No history of revocations for unsatisfactory driving.
• Ability to pass Lakeshore safety training.
• Good attendance and adherence to the work schedule; internal applicants must be in good standing with attendance.
• Ability to pass DOT drug and alcohol screening and motor vehicle record (MVR) review.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, squat, walk, and perform repetitive movements.
• Ability to work at varying heights, from floor level to overhead.
• Ability to use hands and fingers to manipulate locks, hinges, trailer doors, and air brake lines.
• Ability to handle equipment controls and reach with hands and arms.
• Ability to hear warning signals and machinery and communicate effectively.
• Close, distance, depth, color, and peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
• Demonstrated endurance, energy, and physical strength to perform the essential functions of the role.

• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Stage trailers at assigned loading and unloading doors and staging areas.
• Clean and sweep trailers as needed or instructed.
• Maintain communication with supervision throughout the shift.
• Communicate observed truck issues to supervision.
• Follow safety rules and use appropriate safety equipment.
• Use and update the Yard Management System (YMS).
