About The Position

The Yard Driver, Non-CDL transports tractor trailers on company property, including loading docks and designated parking areas, and to offsite maintenance or inspection facilities. The role moves trailers to and from loading docks and parks loaded or empty trailers in designated areas safely, promptly, and in accordance with Department of Transportation regulations. It also involves professional communication with customers, vendors, and coworkers, answering questions accurately and in a timely manner, and performing other duties as assigned to support the company.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
At least 6 months of driving experience; eligible internal candidates may be promoted with less experience if they have a good performance record and meet driver training program requirements.
Valid non-commercial driver’s license.
Meet applicable state licensing and certification requirements.
Clean Motor Vehicle Report for the past 3 years.
Pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
Able to work scheduled and assigned times and required overtime.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
At least 1 year of warehouse distribution industry experience.
Experience with onboard computers and electronic log systems, such as PeopleNet.
Pass a road test.

Responsibilities

Inspect and move trailers safely in accordance with DOT regulations and company safe-driving policies.
Fuel, move, and park tractors and trailers at the docks.
Transport tractor trailers to offsite maintenance or inspection facilities, including local city driving.
Secure trucks, trailers, and equipment and complete required documentation.
Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers, answering questions accurately and promptly.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
