About The Position
DHL Supply Chain is hiring a Yard Jockey to drive switching equipment, tractors, and straight trucks to transport goods or equipment to and from designated locations. The role requires sequencing moves to support efficient loading and unloading, loading and unloading trailers, and verifying product counts. The Yard Driver maintains a clean and safe docking area, reports maintenance or safety concerns, refuels vehicles on site, and documents equipment locations and condition. The schedule is a rotating 2-2-3 shift from 5 PM to 5 AM, including every other weekend. Pay is $21.25 per hour, including shift premium, plus an additional $2 per hour for weekend night work.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of verifiable experience driving, switching, or operating a commercial tractor.
Responsibilities
- Switch trailers and equipment to and from docks to maintain safe and efficient dock operations.
- Maintain equipment fuel levels and refuel equipment at appropriate times.
- Load and unload trucks, verify product counts and condition, and report overages, shortages, and damages.
- Perform daily yard checks.
- Secure loads and ensure they comply with local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records and logs as required by policies and procedures.
- Inspect truck equipment and supplies, including tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water, and notify supervision of current or anticipated repair needs.
- Comply with company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and safe docking area and report maintenance or safety issues to supervision.
