About The Position
Drives switching equipment, tractors, and straight trucks to transport goods or equipment to and from designated locations. Makes decisions about sequencing schedules to maintain efficient loading and unloading operations. Loads and unloads trailers and verifies product counts. Maintains a clean and safe docking area and reports maintenance or safety issues to supervision. Refuels vehicles on site and documents equipment locations and condition.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year of verifiable experience driving, switching, or operating a commercial tractor.
Responsibilities
- Switch trailers and equipment to and from docks to maintain safe and efficient dock operations.
- Maintain equipment fuel levels and refuel equipment at appropriate times.
- Load and unload trucks, verifying product counts and condition.
- Report product overages, shortages, and damage.
- Perform daily yard checks.
- Secure loads properly and ensure they comply with local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records and logs as required by policies and procedures.
- Inspect truck equipment and supplies, including tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water.
- Notify supervision of current or anticipated repair needs.
- Comply with company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
