About The Position

The Yard Driver operates switching equipment, tractors, and straight trucks to move goods or equipment between designated locations. The role involves sequencing moves to support efficient loading and unloading, switching trailers to and from docks, and loading and unloading trailers while verifying product counts and condition. The driver also performs yard checks, refuels and inspects equipment, maintains accurate records, and reports safety or maintenance issues to supervision. The position is listed as a first-shift role, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at $21.30 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of verifiable experience driving, switching, or operating a commercial tractor.

Nice To Haves

• General warehouse experience.
• Forklift experience.

Responsibilities

• Transport and switch trailers and equipment to and from assigned areas and docks.
• Sequence movements to maintain efficient loading and unloading operations.
• Load and unload trucks, verifying product count and condition.
• Report product overages, shortages, and damage.
• Maintain equipment fuel levels and refuel equipment at appropriate times.
• Perform daily yard checks.
• Secure loads in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records and logs as required.
• Inspect truck equipment and supplies, including tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water.
• Notify supervision of current or anticipated repair needs and safety issues.
• Maintain a clean and safe docking area.
• Comply with company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
