About The Position

CBS News is seeking a full-time personal finance writer for its "MoneyWatch: Managing Your Money" vertical. This section focuses on commerce stories related to high-interest financial topics such as mortgage rates, life insurance, tax tips, gold investing, and student loans. The primary objective is to generate revenue through clicks and conversions from this content. The ideal candidate will have a background in personal finance writing, be able to produce accurate and timely content adhering to CBS News standards, and possess knowledge of sponsored content, affiliate links, and search engine optimization (SEO). This is a remote-eligible position.

Requirements

3+ years of writing experience, preferably in business, personal finance, or affiliate marketing (lead generation).
Ability to write clean, clear, and accurate content on deadline, without sacrificing CBS News standards.
Ability to interpret data and metrics to inform story ideation and performance.
Experienced with affiliate marketing and knowledge of the space.

Nice To Haves

CPE certification is a plus but not required.
Business mindset, comfortable using content to generate revenue.
Strong understanding of sponsored content and affiliate links.
Experience optimizing content for search.

Responsibilities

Pitch and write in-depth explainers, reviews, and "best-of" listicles, as well as quick-turnaround daily personal finance stories based on the news cycle and seasonality.
Utilize data to inform MoneyWatch vertical priorities and adjust content decisions.
Optimize headlines and copy for SEO.
Update and maintain a library of existing articles.
Assist the senior editor and managing editor with content planning and calendar management.
Participate in broader strategic discussions with partners.
