About The Position

The Wrapper works in Hy-Vee’s Bakery Department, preparing bakery products for display and helping ensure they meet quality, appearance, freshness, and presentation standards. The role includes wrapping, weighing, labeling, stocking, and rotating products, as well as providing friendly customer service and supporting bakery operations. The position is fast-paced and requires working on your feet throughout the shift, maintaining a clean and sanitary workspace, and collaborating with bakery coworkers. Employees may also assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Hy-Vee Food Safety program required.
• Ability to follow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions with attention to detail.
• Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced bakery environment.
• Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas.
• Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning and sanitation duties.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

• Six months or less of similar or related work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide prompt, friendly service, making interactions positive.
• Wrap, weigh, and label products accurately and apply merchandising labels.
• Stock display cases and rotate products while maintaining presentation standards.
• Inspect products before display to ensure they meet quality and appearance standards.
• Check signage and advertised-item availability and inform the Bakery Manager about out-of-stock products.
• Take customer orders at the bakery counter and answer the telephone promptly.
• Assist the designer by decorating and writing on cakes when the designer is absent.
• Assist the baker with pulling products from the freezer and preparing items such as cookies and donuts for baking.
• Follow proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Work cooperatively with coworkers to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Assist in other store areas and complete special projects as assigned.
• Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
• Report to work as scheduled and on time.
