About The Position

The Wrapper works in Hy-Vee’s Bakery Department and ensures bakery products are accurately wrapped, weighed, labeled, and stocked, with close attention to freshness, quality, and presentation. The role provides friendly customer service, supports bakery operations, and helps maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Wrappers may also assist with cake decorating, baking tasks, customer orders, and other store needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Hy-Vee Food Safety program required.
• Follow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions with attention to detail.
• Accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers.
• Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions.
• Communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
• Work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced bakery environment.
• Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
• Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning and sanitation duties.

Nice To Haves

• Six months or less of similar or related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide prompt, friendly service.
• Wrap, weigh, and label products accurately, including applying merchandising labels.
• Stock cases and rotate products with attention to presentation.
• Inspect products before display to ensure they meet quality and appearance standards.
• Ensure signage is correct and advertised items are available, and inform the Bakery Manager about out-of-stock products.
• Take customer orders at the bakery counter and answer the telephone promptly.
• Assist the designer with decorating and writing on cakes when the designer is absent.
• Assist the baker with pulling products from the freezer and dropping cookies, donuts, and similar items.
• Follow proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Work with co-workers to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned.
• Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
• Report to work as scheduled and on time.
