About The Position

The Wrapper works in the Bakery Department and is responsible for preparing bakery products for display. The role wraps, weighs, and labels products, stocks and rotates merchandise, and checks products for quality and appearance before they reach the sales floor. It also includes serving bakery customers, supporting bakery production and cake decorating as needed, maintaining a clean and sanitary work area, and contributing to a positive team environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Hy-Vee Food Safety program required.
• Follow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions with attention to detail.
• Accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers.
• Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions.
• Communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
• Work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced bakery environment.

Nice To Haves

• Six months or less of similar or related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service and make customer interactions positive.
• Wrap, weigh, and label products accurately and apply merchandising labels.
• Stock cases and rotate products with attention to presentation.
• Inspect products before display to ensure they meet quality and appearance standards.
• Ensure signage is correct and advertised items are available; inform the Bakery Manager of out-of-stock products.
• Take customer orders at the bakery counter and answer the telephone promptly.
• Assist the designer by decorating and writing on cakes when the designer is absent.
• Assist the baker with pulling products from the freezer and dropping cookies, donuts, and similar items.
• Follow proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Work with co-workers as a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Assist in other areas of the store and complete special projects as assigned.
• Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
• Report to work as scheduled and on time.
