Worship Pastor

U.S. Church Ministries•Lima, OH

About The Position

Shawnee Alliance Church is seeking a full-time Worship Pastor to provide pastoral oversight of the church’s worship ministries and Sunday worship experience. This is a salaried position requiring 45–50 hours per week, with compensation based on experience and training. The role emphasizes shepherding and developing people, planning services, and equipping volunteers—not simply leading songs. The Worship Pastor will support contemporary, traditional, and online services and help carry out the church’s vision, mission, and values. The Worship Pastor will work collaboratively with the Lead Pastor, teaching pastors, pastoral team, volunteers, and congregation. The position includes selecting music and other service elements, recruiting and training worship-team volunteers, leading rehearsals and devotionals, coordinating technical and creative arts, and overseeing relevant equipment, budgets, licenses, and subscriptions. The pastor will also provide pastoral care, assist the Lead Pastor as requested, and be able to preach engaging, biblically grounded sermons. The ideal candidate is a pastor first, with experience in worship leadership or related ministry, the ability to lead and develop teams, and alignment with the doctrinal statement and official positions of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. The candidate should value Christ-focused, participatory worship, the priesthood of all believers, disciplemaking, excellence, authenticity, relational ministry, and a driven culture. The position may require licensing with The Christian & Missionary Alliance; the posting also states that the candidate must hold or be able to gain ordination within the Alliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in religion, worship arts, or a comparable field.
  • At least five years of experience in worship leadership or relevant experience; the posting also specifies 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Hold or be able to gain licensing or ordination within The Christian and Missionary Alliance; the posting says licensing may be required and separately states the candidate must hold or be able to gain ordination.
  • Agreement with the Christian and Missionary Alliance statement of beliefs and theological position papers, and alignment with its doctrinal statement and official positions.
  • Ability to lead and manage teams and work well with minimal supervision.
  • Positive attitude in a church environment.
  • Ability to pass a background check at the church’s expense on a recurring basis.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, email, Planning Center Online, ProPresenter, Adobe Creative Suite, and other video-editing or service-production software as required.
  • Willingness and ability to lead change and engage in difficult conversations and healthy conflict.
  • Alignment with the church’s emphasis on the priesthood of all believers, equipping the saints, disciplemaking, dynamic Christ-focused worship, excellence, authenticity, relational ministry, and initiative.
