Worship Experience Team Leader
About The Position
The Worship Experience Team Leader leads, inspires, and engages the congregation in an authentic encounter with Jesus through all aspects of the weekend worship experience. Reporting to the Executive Pastor of Ministries, the role provides strategic leadership through Lead Team participation and organizational alignment; leads, develops, and pastors the Worship Experience Team; and fosters a healthy culture, clear vision, and staff growth. The role supervises the Weekend Experience Lead, Communications & Marketing Lead, Production Lead, and Worship Experience Ministry Assistant. The leader oversees the planning and execution of weekend services, special events, and major ministry initiatives, including Easter and Christmas. They lead worship services, prepare and coach worship teams through rehearsals, musical development, and weekend service leadership, and recruit, train, equip, and shepherd worship and production volunteers. They also encourage and disciple staff and volunteers, build relationships with industry peers, and fulfill other assigned duties. Staff are expected to participate in the church community and its meetings, align with VRL’s mission, vision, beliefs, and culture, and work collaboratively with staff to support ministry and events. Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience leading worship, developing teams, and coaching and pastoring worship leaders in a church staff setting.
- 3–5 years of experience leading and developing church staff.
- Strong musical proficiency, including modern vocal leadership, instrumentation, and song memorization.
- Proficiency with Planning Center, Microsoft Teams, and DAW software programs.
- Working knowledge of AVL systems in services.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to engage and inspire large audiences.
- Coachable, growth-oriented, and receptive to regular feedback.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule with seasons of irregular work hours.
- Regularly attend VRL church services and participate in a Life Group.
- Have attended The Journey and signed a commitment form.
- Be aligned with VRL’s mission, vision, beliefs, and culture.
- Commit to regular giving of income to God through VRL and continued spiritual growth.
- Collaborate with staff to support the ministries and events of VRL.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership through active participation in Lead Team initiatives and organizational alignment.
- Lead, develop, and pastor the Worship Experience Team, fostering a healthy culture, clear vision, and staff growth.
- Encourage and disciple team members and volunteers to serve faithfully and coach from the overflow of their relationship with Jesus.
- Oversee planning and execution of weekend services, special events, and major ministry initiatives, including Easter and Christmas.
- Lead worship services that inspire authentic encounters with Jesus and advance discipleship.
- Recruit, train, equip, and shepherd worship and production volunteers.
- Build relationships with industry peers for ongoing development.
- Prepare and lead worship teams through rehearsal, musical proficiency, coaching, and weekend service leadership.
- Attend VRL church services regularly, participate in a Life Group, and attend The Journey and sign a commitment form.
- Attend monthly All Staff meetings and department or other meetings when requested.
- Work closely with the entire staff to build and maintain a strong team environment and support VRL ministries and events.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
