About The Position

This course focuses on intensive practice in academic essay writing. Key areas of emphasis include grammatical accuracy, well-reasoned expository writing, essay organization, the preparation of research papers, and the proper acknowledgment of sources. Students will engage in frequent written exercises to develop their composition skills. The use of Writing Centre resources is required outside of regular class hours. This posting is limited to a Regular Part-Time Professor.

Requirements

• Ph.D (English)
• Competence in English (language of instruction)
• Successful completion of all mandatory legislated training

• An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach Workshop in Essay Writing (ENG1100 BI00)
• Provide intensive practice in academic essay writing
• Emphasize grammatical accuracy and well-reasoned expository writing
• Focus on essay organization
• Guide students in the preparation of research papers
• Instruct on proper acknowledgment of sources
• Assign and evaluate frequent written exercises
• Develop students' composition skills
• Require and monitor the use of Writing Centre resources outside of class hours
