About The Position

At Phil Long KIA, the Working Shop Foreman keeps the service shop running efficiently while protecting repair quality and customer satisfaction. The role combines team leadership and shop operations with hands-on technical support when needed. The foreman recruits, hires, coaches, and reviews technicians; balances and assigns work fairly; and ensures compliance with safety and environmental regulations, manufacturer warranty policies, and required training. The foreman tracks performance using DOC, productivity and efficiency controls, comeback and warranty reports, forecasts, and survey results. The role also verifies accurate charge-outs and complete documentation. A typical shift includes reviewing repair flow and open RO status, coordinating with advisors and the dispatcher, checking in with technicians, reviewing productivity and warranty trends, adjusting work as needed, conducting road tests or quality checks, and following up with customers to resolve issues. The day concludes with updated reports and a plan for the next day.

Requirements

4–10 years of related experience, or equivalent.
ASE Certifications and manufacturer training.
Valid driver’s license.
Strong communication, math, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Recruit, hire, coach, and review technicians.

Review productivity numbers and identify trends in comebacks or warranty activity; make adjustments as needed.
Conduct road tests or quick quality checks as vehicles are completed.
Follow up with customers when needed to provide a resolution.
Maintain a cleaner and safer shop, update reports, and prepare a plan for the next day.
