Workers' Compensation Lien Specialist

About The Position

We’re looking for a Workers’ Compensation Lien Specialist to take ownership of the full lien lifecycle—from filing through resolution. This role is critical to maximizing recovery, ensuring compliance with California regulations, and supporting litigation readiness. You’ll work cross-functionally with internal teams, attorneys, carriers, and TPAs to drive results in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Experience with California workers’ compensation liens required
Strong knowledge of DWC regulations, SB 863, EAMS, SBR/IBR processes
Ability to interpret EORs and manage AR workflows
Experience preparing for hearings and working with legal teams
Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Comfortable managing a high-volume workload with competing deadlines

Responsibilities

File, maintain, and track liens in compliance with California DWC regulations and SB 863 requirements
Ensure timely submissions, accurate documentation, and organized recordkeeping across internal systems and EAMS
Review and interpret Explanation of Review (EOR) to identify denials, underpayments, and discrepancies
Manage Second Bill Review (SBR) and Independent Bill Review (IBR) processes to resolve unpaid or disputed balances
Monitor EAMS for lien hearings, deadlines, and case updates
Prepare complete hearing files, including Declarations of Readiness (DOR) and supporting documentation
Partner with attorneys, adjusters, and internal teams to ensure readiness
Negotiate lien settlements with carriers, TPAs, and defense counsel
Prioritize high-value and aging liens, escalating complex issues as needed
Track lien status, case activity, and outcomes within EAMS
Maintain accurate, audit-ready documentation for all actions and updates
Monitor key metrics such as recovery rates, aging receivables, and resolution timelines
Provide visibility into lien inventory, risks, and overall performance
