About The Position

As a Workday EDM Forward Deployed Engineer (HCM Consultant) at Kainos, you will work as an embedded EDM Workday configuration specialist within customer environments, driving hands-on adoption, optimisation, and business integration of EDM from go-live onward. You will act as a technical bridge between Kainos and the customer, working as an extension of the client’s internal team while coordinating closely with Kainos Customer Success, Support, Onboarding, and Product functions. The role combines Workday configuration, technical delivery, and customer success. You will remove friction, resolve configuration blockers, enable client teams, and guide customers toward mature, self-sustaining use. You will support several Employee Document Management accounts concurrently, partnering with each account’s Customer Success Manager. The CSM owns the client relationship, while you own technical enablement and adoption.

Requirements

  • HCM Workday certification.
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience leading Workday deployments and configuring live Workday environments.
  • Experience working directly in enterprise customer environments and building trusted technical relationships with client IT and HR operations teams.
  • Experience managing complex stakeholder environments.
  • Ability to independently resolve complex integration and configuration challenges using pragmatic, well-documented solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical details clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage concurrent work across multiple accounts and balance responsiveness with structured prioritisation.
  • Awareness of how technical adoption affects customer retention and long-term platform value.
  • Collaborative working style and commitment to knowledge sharing and developing team capability.

Nice To Haves

  • Practical working knowledge of Kainos EDM, including configuration, document management, template design, workflow automation, and version management.
  • Experience in a forward-deployed, embedded engineering, or technical account management role, ideally in a SaaS or enterprise software environment.
  • Familiarity with adjacent Workday modules such as Recruiting, Learning, Talent, and Advanced Compensation that intersect with EDM document workflows.
  • Exposure to customer success metrics, adoption health scoring, or maturity frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and optimise EDM and Workday configurations in live customer environments, working with client IT, HR, and operations teams.
  • Proactively identify and remediate configuration debt, performance constraints, and architectural limitations.
  • Resolve complex technical blockers and provide environment context to support and accelerate case resolution.
  • Maintain technical continuity from implementation into the FDE engagement, partnering with the Onboarding team at go-live.
  • Enable client administrators through knowledge transfer and by producing configuration guides, integration documentation, and reusable templates.
  • Identify technical signals of adoption risk and provide the Customer Success Manager with regular technical health summaries.
  • Guide clients through the three-stage maturity model by addressing configuration gaps, integration failures, and administrator capability shortfalls.
  • Define and track account-specific maturity milestones with the Customer Success Manager, using adoption metrics and usage data.
  • Share structured product insight with the Product team, including recurring configuration constraints, missing capabilities, and underserved enterprise use cases.
  • Document account-level technical history and share reusable assets, resolved issues, and deployment patterns with other Forward Deployed Engineers.
