Work Management Specialist

Duke Energy Corporation•Owensville, IN

About The Position

The Work Management Specialist is the first level (1 of 2) of the RRE Work Management classification hierarchy. The position supports the work management process by developing schedules and plans that facilitate barrier-free work execution, supporting daily and weekly operations and maintenance activities, ensuring necessary resources are available for station work, and facilitating process improvements that make work plans safer, more productive, and cost competitive. Typically, this level handles a single work management function for one site, such as contract resource coordination, planning, or scheduling. Maintenance Coordination is typically posted at the RRE Maintenance Coordinator level, even when it is a single function for one site. Core activities may include developing weekly schedules and job plans; determining general ledger accounting for work orders; researching inventory and parts using drawings and manuals; setting minimum inventory levels; completing new-item requests and stock justifications; creating purchase requests; managing equipment repairs; and completing single- or sole-source justifications. The specialist coordinates and communicates during work preparation and execution, monitors activity progress, prepares reports, and captures, evaluates, and incorporates lessons learned for continuous improvement. The role may also direct, coordinate, and review internal staff or contractors to ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and on time. Work is performed with minimal supervision, with expectations that incumbents develop advanced skills and greater independence over time. Depending on the assigned function, the role may coordinate contract resources and provide field oversight; develop barrier-free plans and verify materials and resources; or create resource-loaded schedules, lead daily and weekly work-status meetings, adjust schedules, and maintain the skill matrix. The position works in power plant and office environments and may require observing work throughout generating facilities operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Travel is not required. Relocation assistance is not provided. The role is not represented by a union and is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
