About The Position

Bow Valley College is seeking a dynamic and relationship-focused Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Officer to connect learners, employers, and faculty through impactful experiential learning opportunities. This continuous role supports Health Programs. Reporting to the Manager, Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Services, the Work Integrated Learning Officer plays a key role in connecting students, employers, and faculty to create meaningful, high-quality experiential learning opportunities. This position supports learners across a range of WIL experiences including practicums, field placements, clinicals, and service learning. Helping learners successfully transition from the classroom to the workplace. The WIL Officer is both a relationship builder and a program coordinator who is responsible for facilitating placements, preparing students for success, and ensuring that employers and academic partners have a seamless and rewarding experience. Through a combination of career development expertise, operational excellence, and stakeholder engagement, the WIL Officer contributes to student success and workforce readiness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience (e.g., career development, student placement, business development, or human resources)
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Collaborative and resourceful professional with a strong foundation in career and employment development
  • Proven relationship-building skills, enabling you to effectively engage employers, faculty, and community partners while delivering a high level of customer service.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities and large volumes of information
  • Strong technical proficiency with databases, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Communicate with clarity and confidence, whether facilitating workshops, coaching students, or engaging stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a post-secondary environment, particularly in WIL or experiential learning

  • Experience working with contact management software (e.g., Orbis, Symplicity)
  • Knowledge of labour market trends and employer hiring practices
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders and manage competing priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with platforms such as LinkedIn

Responsibilities

  • Lead the coordination and day-to-day administration of Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placements, ensuring students are effectively matched with appropriate and approved employer partners.
  • Manage placement workflows through the WIL system, maintain accurate records, and support the collection of required documentation and agreements.
  • Monitor placement progress, follow up with students to ensure a smooth experience, and track outcomes to evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Drive continuous improvement by compiling insights, feedback, and data to enhance processes, tools, and overall program delivery.
  • Build and sustain meaningful relationships with employers, faculty, and internal partners to support a strong and collaborative WIL network.
  • Engage employers to create and expand placement opportunities, while collaborating closely with academic teams to align WIL activities with program goals and student outcomes.
  • Contribute to outreach strategies that strengthen industry connections and grow WIL participation.
  • Coordinate and support events such as orientations, networking sessions, and employer engagement initiatives to foster connection and awareness.
  • Design and deliver career readiness programming that prepares students for success in their WIL experiences, including workshops on resume writing, interview skills, networking, and workplace success.
  • Provide individualized coaching to support students in achieving their placement goals and navigating challenges.
  • Develop and maintain relevant resources, support student participation in career-related events, and help them overcome barriers to success.
  • Stay informed on labour market trends and employer expectations to ensure students are well-prepared to transition confidently into the workplace.
