#Wireless Subsystem Test and Software Tools Engineer
About The Position
Qualcomm Research (QR) division drives cutting-edge research in enabling the next generation (6G) of wireless. This involves the development of research-grade prototypes and early-stage platforms to enable advances in RF, baseband, communication protocols, and algorithms; User Experience (UX) technologies for XR, AI-powered context-aware communications, agentic AI, and robotics; multi-modal sensing using RF, vision, and maps; and system architectures to meet and drive industry standards. These prototypes/platforms are end-to-end systems that enable the characterization and demonstration of advanced technologies, improved application performance and user experience, utilization of Qualcomm's compute platforms, leveraging of open-source libraries, and pre-commercial inter-operability trials and showcases with industry partners. This role requires advanced SW development across a multitude of domains, layers, and platforms. This position requires a Software Systems Integration and Test (SSIT) Engineer to work on comprehensive end-to-end feature validation, test-framework development, continuous integration, and process automation for large-scale software subsystems with test equipment and tools used in advanced 5G and 6G wireless research. You will be working in a fast-paced, intellectually challenging work environment. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Proficiency in C/C++, Python programming
- Understanding of multi-threading, OS fundamentals
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate technical ideas and work status (estimates, risks, dependencies) clearly, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work effectively across teams in a fast-paced, collaborative and diverse software engineering environment
Nice To Haves
- Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering OR 2 years of work experience in an Embedded Software Engineering field
- Familiarity with Linux based development, release and deploy environments
- Experience debugging embedded software and performing end-to-end software integration in networked environments
- Experience developing and maintaining test frameworks and utilities, automating end-to-end regression tests, and integrating test automation into CI/CD workflows.
- Experience with telecom test equipment such as spectrum analyzer and computer network configuration and performance monitoring hardware and software tools.
- Knowledge of virtualization, cloud-computing, containerization, and orchestration technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm
- Knowledge of network protocols, wireless systems, QoS frameworks, protocols such as 5G NR, LTE, and 802.11
- Aptitude to seek and adopt productivity enhancement processes/tools (AI-based & other) on top of a strong foundation of technical and programming skills.
Responsibilities
- Develop feature test plans and perform comprehensive end-to-end feature validation and testing for large-scale software subsystems used in advanced wireless research.
- Plan and execute feature validation for development milestones and external activities, including operator trials, demonstrations, and industry showcases.
- Develop and maintain test frameworks, test utilities, and test automation.
- Develop, maintain, and execute continuous and nightly regression test suites.
- Plan and establish software, hardware and network as part of end-to-end system integration and test environment.
- Collaborate with software development and system test teams to plan software releases and support efficient end-to-end software feature integration.
- Debug complex embedded software and troubleshoot end-to-end software and hardware integration issues.
- Apply and develop networking diagnostics, data visualization, and system performance analysis tools to troubleshoot test and integration issues.
- Work with advanced compute, devices, hardware, and software platforms used to develop and validate next-generation wireless systems.
