About The Position

The Wine Director works on the restaurant floor during service, guiding guests through beverage offerings and providing wine service. The role focuses on guest satisfaction and wine revenue through hands-on, guest-centered service and sales. The Wine Director maintains thorough knowledge of the wine list, food menu and pairings, and other beverages, and orders wine to keep inventory accurate and adequately stocked. The position also supports service staff and management with basic restaurant tasks when needed.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of Sommelier experience in a fine-dining, high-volume environment.
• Passion for wine and people.
• Extensive wine knowledge, a hospitality focus, and a strong ability to sell.
• Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
• Stable and progressive work history and a strong work ethic.

Nice To Haves

• Level 2 certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers.

Responsibilities

• Promote excellent guest satisfaction through a hands-on, lead-by-example management style and a “Do Whatever It Takes Attitude.”
• Work on the floor during restaurant hours, guide guests through beverage offerings, and execute wine service.
• Maximize wine revenue through attentive, guest-centered salesmanship.
• Assist service staff and the management team with basic restaurant tasks when necessary.
• Maintain commanding knowledge of the wine list, a thorough understanding of the menu and food-and-wine pairings, and knowledge of other beverages offered.
• Order wine to maintain accurate inventory and sufficient product for operations.
