About The Position

Steiner Electric is seeking a reliable, hard-working, team-oriented individual to support its Will Call Counter at the Elk Grove location. This entry-level role offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced electrical wholesale environment and supports the counter team with customer service, order entry, merchandising, and general tasks. Steiner Electric is a family-owned company founded in 1916, serving customers across Northern Illinois, Northwest Indiana, and Southeast Wisconsin with electrical and industrial supplies and related products.

Requirements

• High school diploma preferred but not required.
• Computer experience and the ability to navigate software and hardware independently.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Basic accounting knowledge.
• English speaking preferred.
• Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods on hard surfaces.
• Acceptable grooming and dress for the position.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual ability in Spanish would be beneficial.
• Experience and/or electrical product experience applicable to counter sales is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help with general tasks and projects.
• Support the Counter Team with day-to-day assistance.
• Assist with merchandising to maintain manufacturer product displays that are well-stocked, up-to-date, and clean.
• Enter bids into the Steiner order entry system.
• Enter orders using cost-effective and profitable methods, such as drop shipment, customer pickup, or UPS rather than company truck delivery.
• Manage open customer orders, take appropriate actions, and keep customers informed about order status.
• Follow ISO procedures regarding Section 300 Sales Order Entry and Contract Review.
• Interact with customers and vendors at Steiner- or vendor-sponsored events.
