About The Position

Kidron Bethel Village is seeking a full-time Wellness Center Director to manage the daily operations of the Bluestem Wellness Center in North Newton. The role oversees programs, member relations, administration, facility operations, and financial matters, and promotes the center’s services to residents, staff, and the community. The director is responsible for customer service, programming, safety, and smooth operations, and collaborates with other Bluestem Wellness Centers to improve services, align operations, and encourage teamwork. The position oversees the fitness center, equipment, pool, and hot tub; coordinates maintenance and cleaning; leads and schedules land and aquatic programming; supports members; manages memberships and administrative processes; oversees the budget; and hires, trains, and supervises instructors and support staff. The director also responds to emergencies, supports employee wellness initiatives, and coordinates contracted class instructors.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certification.
If not already certified, must be able to complete certification within 12 months of hire.
Physical capacity for medium work: exert 20–50 pounds occasionally, 10–25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or physical education preferred.
An associate’s degree emphasizing exercise and fitness science may be considered.
Alternatively, two years of work experience in fitness instruction and arthritis water aerobics training, coupled with certification from the American Council on Exercise (ACE) or National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), may be considered.

Responsibilities

Oversee operations of the fitness center, equipment, pool, and hot tub.
Perform and coordinate pool and hot tub chemical management, cleaning, maintenance, and repair coordination, including occasional after-hours pool maintenance.
Perform and coordinate fitness equipment checks, preventive maintenance, and repair coordination.
Maintain cleanliness of the fitness room, fitness equipment, and pool room.
Coordinate and lead land and aquatic programming, primarily for residents.
Manage class and programming schedules and communication.
Build positive relationships with members and maintain a welcoming presence.
Provide facility and equipment orientations, and demonstrate, teach, and promote safe exercise techniques and equipment use.
Collaborate with other departments to promote wellness center services to residents.
Coordinate membership sales, data management, and invoicing.
Prepare reports on membership, program attendance, facility use, and promotion utilization.
Develop and maintain corporate or group partnerships.
Manage the Wellness Center budget, process invoices, and track expenses.
Hire, train, and supervise instructors and department support staff.
Manage staff schedules, timecards, evaluations, and related duties.
Respond to emergencies and ensure appropriate protocols are followed.
Monitor pool and facility safety during open hours and maintain a safe environment for members and staff.
Provide Essential Functions Testing (EFT) for new employees.
Promote the Wellness Center at New Employee Orientation.
Participate in the Employee Wellness Committee and support related initiatives.
Assist with employee wellness events, such as biometric screening.
Serve as the main contact for contracted class instructors and coordinate the overall outcome of their deliverables.
Collaborate with other Bluestem Wellness Centers to improve services, align operations, and promote teamwork.
