About The Position

The Wellness Assistant helps enhance residents’ quality of life through social, spiritual, therapeutic, and other wellness activities and programs within the community. The role assists with developing wellness programming, facilitates daily events, collects information to support resident assessments, and helps implement care plans based on residents’ needs.

Requirements

• Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: Experience in long-term care.
• Preferred: BLS certification.
• Preferred: First Aid certification.
• If leading the program, meet the qualifications required by federal regulation §483.15(f)(2): be a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional; be a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant; or have completed a state-approved training course. The activities-professional pathway includes applicable state licensure or registration and eligibility for certification by a recognized accrediting body, or two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years, including one full-time year in a patient activities program in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing the community’s wellness programming.
