About The Position

In support of the Student Affairs Learning Outcomes, the Wellness and Recreation team manages multiple fitness and recreation facilities and coordinates a variety of on- and off-campus recreation and wellness education programming. Along with professional staff and graduate assistants, the Well-being Programming Assistant is responsible for supporting services, resources, and programs related to holistic well-being education for students with a focus on physical activity, stress management, nutrition, sleep, mindfulness, and overall well-being. The Well-being Programming Assistant strives to create welcoming experiences that contribute to the University by building community, increasing the students’ pride in Chapman University, and improving students’ healthy sense of self. All Well-being Programming Assistants are employees in the Department of Student Engagement and the Division of Student Affairs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate information regarding Chapman University and Wellness and Recreation.
  • Present a positive image of Chapman University employees, specifically the Wellness and Recreation team.
  • Present an image of an individual who understands themselves to be responsible for the facilitation of well-being programming and for cultivating a welcoming and engaging experience for all participants.
  • Act as a role model and positive voice on campus in promoting greater health-conscious attitudes and challenging campus social norms where appropriate.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of in-person outreach and educational events related to a variety of well-being topics, including but not limited to stress management, emotional intelligence, physical activity, nutrition, mindfulness, sleep, and growth mindset.
  • Assist with the research, planning, and implementation of campus-wide awareness and education campaigns using print, social media, and other means of communication.
  • Staff tabling events throughout the year to promote awareness of healthy behaviors.
  • Conduct outreach to all students to create opportunities for education and collaboration.
  • Ensure collection and maintenance of accurate rosters and experience surveys for all programs.
  • Promote well-being programming along with other Wellness and Recreation facilities, programs, and services.
  • Promote the use of Wellness and Recreation virtual engagement platforms (e.g. RecPortal, CU Health and Wellness website, Panther Connect, Instagram, etc.)
  • Attend all scheduled Wellness & Recreation staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Serve as a representative for the Wellness and Recreation team at events as determined by the supervisor.
  • Participate in and contribute to Department of Student Engagement programs, services, experiences, and resources as determined by supervisor.
