About The Position

This position will advance multi-level health promotion strategies by engaging in and coordinating community-based health coalitions, facilitating partner alignment to support health, working directly with community organizations and settings to promote health-supportive policies, systems, and environments, and delivering education on health behaviors. Health & Well-Being educators are responsible for conducting local situational analyses and have experience in program development and evaluation. Initial programming efforts of this position may include: Initial programming efforts will include conducting a landscape analysis of existing programs, partnerships, and community-identified health priorities in Waukesha County. This will inform the identification of gaps and opportunities to align and strengthen evidence-based health promotion strategies in collaboration with local health partners, county health divisions, schools, health organizations, and community members. The main office for this position is located in Waukesha, WI and the primary programming focus is Waukesha County; however, some programming may also be conducted over a broader geographical area. As a statewide engagement arm of UW–Madison, the Division of Extension embodies the Wisconsin Idea to extend university knowledge to every corner of the state. Requirements

Work and/or volunteer experience relevant to the programmatic responsibilities of the position, including but not limited to health promotion and health education in community contexts
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively use a variety of methods and technology
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with community-based organizations and agencies to address educational needs
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional work environments
Demonstrated ability to effectively work with people from a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives
Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to the programmatic responsibilities of the position such as, but not limited to community health education, public health, community psychology, family and consumer sciences, health policy and social work.
Have a valid drivers license and a reliable source of independent transportation for periodic in-state work travel, and/or comply with requirements for UW-Madison vehicle use authorization.

Nice To Haves

At least 2 years of relevant work experience in the area of community health programming
Demonstrated success in developing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs utilizing a variety of educational techniques, methods, and modes
Experience managing multiple tasks, timelines, and schedules while maintaining high-quality work
Experience interpreting, applying, and communicating evidence-based research and data to inform programming and decision-making

Responsibilities

Leads the implementation of programs, policies, and procedures through oversight of day-to-day activities for program staff and student and community volunteers
Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program
Communicate plans, activities and achievements to Area Extension Director, Program Managers, partners and relevant stakeholders
Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program
May assist with the monitoring of outreach program budget spending
Secures educational program revenue annually to support office revenue requirements
Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members
Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials
Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement
