About The Position

The Office of Student Engagement (OSE) supports current UT College of Liberal Arts (COLA) students by providing necessary resources, programs, and services that help students connect to the college community, build important self-advocacy skills, and develop essential career and life skills. COLA is committed to providing holistic well-being support that impacts not only academic success, but all aspects of a student’s life, including mental health, social connections, career exploration, and much more. The Humanitas Student Well-Being Collective strives to foster a culture of empathy, kindness, and support for Liberal Arts students. We offer a wide array of events and programming, including our semesterly Poetry on the Pond event, weekly Wellness Labs, visits from therapy dogs, therapeutic art activities, yoga and mindfulness, and frequent opportunities to learn about the multitude of well-being resources on campus. Located on the 2nd floor of the Jester Dormitory, the Liberal Arts Student Well-Being Center (WBC) is a sanctuary for holistic student support, and a home for the Humanitas Student Well-Being Collective. Liberal Arts students have a space to relax and recharge to boost their academic and personal growth. The purpose of this position is to support not only academic success, but all aspects of a student’s life, including, social connections, mental health and career exploration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and current enrollment in a Master’s program.
  • Experience working collaboratively with undergraduate students, faculty, staff, campus partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Interest in holistic wellness, mental health promotion, and improving the student experience through prevention and engagement efforts.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to represent programs professionally.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including comfort facilitating discussions and presenting to groups.
  • Strong organizational skills, reliability, punctuality, flexibility, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a welcoming, student-centered, and supportive environment.
  • Experience with program assessment or evaluation methods preferred.
  • Experience with digital communication, marketing, and outreach, including graphic design using Canva and social media content development.
  • Experience with data collection, assessment, or evaluation to inform program improvement.
  • Graduate study in student affairs, social work, higher education, or a closely related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support Humanitas Student Well-Being Collective events and programming
  • Support planning and execution of well-being programs and events, including communications, purchasing, packing, setup, hosting, and breakdown; evening and weekend work may be required.
  • Create and distribute marketing materials, including emails, social media posts, digital signage, and printed materials; design graphics and social media content using Canva.
  • Conduct outreach through tabling and campus engagement; provide brief presentations for classes, student organizations, and campus partners.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and growth of the undergraduate Wellness Ambassadors program, including supporting recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and ongoing engagement of student ambassadors.
  • Support leadership development and opportunities for student ambassadors to engage in campus well-being outreach.
  • Assist with daily operations of the COLA Well-Being Center, including supervision of student staff, monitoring shared spaces, and providing front desk coverage as needed.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Monitor the [email protected] email account; respond to inquiries and schedule space reservations.
  • Maintain the UT Outpost Satellite by monitoring inventory, reordering supplies, weighing shipments, and reporting usage data.
  • Provide informed referrals to appropriate campus well-being resources, including CMHC/CARE Counseling, University Health Services, and the Sanger Learning Center.
  • Serve as a point of contact for registered student organizations using the space by building relationships, answering questions, facilitating access to resources, and supporting a positive and well-organized experience.
  • Support compliance with university policies and applicable federal and state regulations related to student programs, space usage, safety, and student support services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of student well-being initiatives, center operations, and departmental or college-wide goals.
  • Assist with collection and analysis of participation data and feedback to support assessment and continuous improvement of programs and services.
  • Responsibilities may be adjusted based on individual’s professional interests and experience, including opportunities to contribute to areas such as social media, communications, assessment, evaluation, wellness education, or program development.

Benefits

  • Pay rate is $19 per hour for approximately 20 hours per week.
  • Work schedule is flexible depending on course schedule/availability.
  • Students in this position may choose to enroll in the UTSaver voluntary retirement programs.
