About The Position

The Welder works at GE Aerospace’s Terre Haute facility, which supplies structural components and cores for military and commercial engines. The facility is state-of-the-art, environmentally controlled, climate-controlled, and VPP Star Certified. The role performs TIG welding and related preparation, assembly, inspection, and measurement tasks. The position may involve high-risk or hazardous operations and shifts beyond a standard workweek, and employees must be at least 18 by their joining date. Access to U.S. export-controlled information requires the ability to prove U.S. Person status. Employment is contingent on being legally authorized to work in the United States and successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable; employees may also be subject to random and reasonable-suspicion drug and alcohol testing. Relocation assistance is provided.

Requirements

• 6 months to 1 year of TIG welding experience.
• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age by the time of joining.
• Must be able to prove U.S. Person status for access to U.S. export-controlled information, as a U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. citizen, person granted asylee status, or person granted refugee status.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable; employees may also be subject to random and reasonable-suspicion drug and alcohol testing.

• 1+ years of TIG welding experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic weld operations, including work setup, material handling, part preparation, and loading fixtures and tool holders.
• Weld material using TIG welding equipment.
• Assemble rework parts.
• Certify several material types for TIG and/or EB welding.
• Prepare parts for welding.
• Use manual, automatic, and dabber TIG (fusion) welding equipment.
• Inspect finished welds and identify defects.
• Measure parts using precision measuring tools.
• Maintain perishable tools in the work area and replace or stock them as necessary.
• Read blueprints and apply them when assembling parts.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and business initiatives.
• Keep the work area safe and clean.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
