About The Position

The Welder fabricates, modifies, and repairs equipment or parts used in heavy highway construction. The role includes working safely and orderly, using measuring devices and tools, preparing and positioning components, assembling and maintaining construction equipment, and performing metalwork using gas and electric welding equipment. Work is on-site in Garner, North Carolina.

Requirements

• Knowledge of tools and welding methods used in the welding trade, including brazing, soldering, electrical, gas, and arc welding.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and manuals, understand and follow directions, and perform minor repair and maintenance on a variety of heavy construction equipment.
• Ability to prioritize, pay attention to detail, take initiative, and solve problems.
• Over one year of experience to become familiar with the accurate use of a variety of welding techniques.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules to maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
• Use basic math and read multiple styles of measuring devices.
• Use tools needed to complete assigned tasks.
• Cut individual components and place them in the correct location using leveling devices.
• Assemble, disassemble, set up, diagnose, adjust, and maintain construction equipment.
• Repair parts and steel, and modify, design, lay out, or fabricate a variety of metalwork.
• Cut, fit, and weld metal using gas and electric welding equipment.
• Perform skilled brazing and soldering.
