About The Position

A Welder/Weld Trainee provides welding support as part of a team assembling standard and/or special service bodies and small parts. The role welds structural aluminum and galvanized steel components according to blueprints, work orders, or oral instructions, and completes inline quality inspections to meet established guidelines. The position may require working across multiple welding workstations to address staffing needs.

Requirements

• Ability to pass tape-measure testing.
• Ability to read blueprints, if applicable to the line.

Responsibilities

• Weld structural aluminum and galvanized steel components according to blueprints, work orders, or oral instructions in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt components to achieve the required configuration and position for welding.
• Monitor fitting, burning, and welding processes to prevent overheating, warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials.
• Inspect work inline and maintain weld quality in accordance with established quality guidelines.
• Complete welding-station tasks within established takt time, if applicable.
• Cross-train on multiple welding workstations and perform tasks at different stations when needed to fill staffing gaps.
• Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools, including welding equipment.
