About The Position

A Welder or Welder Trainee provides welding support as part of a team working on standard and/or special assembled service bodies and small parts. The role welds structural aluminum and galvanized steel components according to blueprints, work orders, or oral instructions, and completes work in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. The position also involves preparing and positioning components, monitoring welding processes to prevent material defects, inspecting work for quality, and supporting multiple workstations as staffing needs require.

Requirements

• Ability to pass tape-measure testing.
• Ability to read blueprints, if applicable to the production line.

• Prior manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Weld structural aluminum and galvanized steel components according to blueprints, work orders, or oral instructions in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts to achieve the required configuration and welding positions.
• Monitor fitting, burning, and welding processes to prevent overheating, warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
• Perform inline quality inspections and maintain weld quality according to established guidelines.
• Complete welding-station tasks in accordance with established takt time, if applicable.
• Cross-train on multiple welding workstations and perform tasks at different stations when needed to fill staffing gaps.
• Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools, including welding equipment.
