About The Position

The Maintenance Electrician supports Reading Truck’s industrial manufacturing operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and electronic equipment. The role inspects, maintains, repairs, and overhauls electromechanical systems, electrical controls, lighting, wiring, communications equipment, and solid-state electrical equipment. It also installs electrical and electronic equipment to applicable National Electrical Code and company standards, prepares and assembles conduit and wiring, performs medium-voltage switching at 600 volts, and operates generators in support of operations. The electrician reads technician diagrams and prints and accurately maintains, documents, and revises them when changes are made.

This role works in an industrial manufacturing setting with exposure to fumes, dust, vibration, noise, heavy machinery, and high voltage, using appropriate protective and safety equipment. The environment is not temperature controlled. The posted role is identified as 1st shift.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as an electrician in an industrial environment.
• Completion of a recognized Electrical Apprenticeship Program, or three out of the last five years of journey-level experience as an electrician in industrial maintenance.
• Experience operating and using Programmable Logic Control (PLC) units and other computer-based equipment, including programming and troubleshooting.
• General knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations in industry.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to climb, stand, bend, and lift heavy objects in awkward and confined spaces.
• Ability to work in an industrial setting with exposure to fumes, dust, vibration, noise, heavy machinery, and high voltage while using appropriate protective and safety equipment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, repair, and overhaul electromechanical, electrical control, lighting, wiring, communications, and solid-state electrical equipment.
• Use electrical test equipment, meters, powered tools, and non-powered tools and equipment.
• Install new electrical and electronic equipment according to the National Electrical Code and company electrical standards.
• Troubleshoot electrical and electronic systems and equipment.
• Prepare, install, and assemble conduits and wiring through them.
• Perform medium-voltage switching (600 volts) and operate generators in support of operations.
• Read technician diagrams and prints, and accurately maintain, document, and revise them to reflect changes.
