About The Position

McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing Inc., an Oshkosh Company, is hiring a Welder for its second-shift production facility in Riceville, Iowa. The company designs and manufactures refuse truck bodies. Starting pay is $20–$28.34 per hour based on experience, with a $2-per-hour second-shift differential and a $2,500 sign-on bonus.

The Welder heats and forms metal parts and components, positions parts for welding, and uses hand tools, torches, plasma cutters, carbon arc equipment, and other welding equipment. The role includes operating an overhead crane, setting welding current, using measuring devices, maintaining a safe and clean work area, and working in different production areas as needed. A high school diploma or GED is not required.

Requirements

• Pass a weld test through either a pre-employment test or the internal weld program.
• Ability to start and run a welder.
• Ability to perform job tasks effectively within one station with little to no quality defects or guidance.
• Willingness to learn to change your own wire.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

• Heat and form metal parts and components using hand tools, a torch, plasma cutter, carbon arc, or other welding equipment.
• Position material and parts for welding and weld materials used at the location.
• Operate an overhead crane to maneuver parts safely into place.
• Adjust welding current to appropriate weld configurations.
• Accurately operate and read measuring devices.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment in compliance with safety procedures, rules, and 6S standards.
• Follow safe procedures while assembling and testing assigned models and products.
• Train and work in various production areas in response to production demands.
