About The Position

Rogers Group is currently seeking candidates for an EXPERIENCED WELDER/ FABRICATOR to fill our role as a MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN at the Oak Ridge Quarry, located in Oak Ridge, TN. The Skilled Welder/Fabricator is responsible for the fabrication, repair, modification, and maintenance of quarry equipment, plant components, crushing and screening systems, conveyors, hoppers, chutes, and structural steel. This position performs welding and fabrication work in both shop and field environments to support safe and efficient quarry operations.

Requirements

  • Strong welding, cutting, fabrication, and fitting skills.
  • Knowledge of quarry plant operations and heavy industrial equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose structural and mechanical failures and recommend repairs.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently under minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to safely perform physical labor in outdoor environments and around moving equipment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of welding and fabrication experience, preferably in aggregate, mining, construction, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Proficiency in structural welding, equipment repair, and metal fabrication.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and fabrication drawings.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience working around crushers, conveyors, screens, and heavy equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG, Stick, Flux Core, and oxy-fuel cutting operations on quarry equipment and plant structures.
  • Fabricate, repair, and install conveyor systems, crusher components, chutes, hoppers, guards, handrails, platforms, and structural steel.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and equipment specifications.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair damaged or worn plant equipment and production components.
  • Cut, fit, layout, and weld materials to required dimensions and tolerances.
  • Operate welding and fabrication equipment including welders, torches, plasma cutters, grinders, drill presses, ironworkers, and saws.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with equipment shutdowns, rebuilds, and plant improvement projects.
  • Operate forklifts, man lifts, and other equipment as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure tools and equipment remain in safe working condition.
  • Follow all MSHA regulations, company safety policies, and required PPE standards.
