About The Position

Responsible for accurately reading blueprints to lay out, measure, cut, and assemble materials to exact specifications using various welding techniques. This role requires the proficient operation of common trade tools and specialized fabrication machinery within a fast-paced production environment. A central focus of the position is dedication to maintaining a clean workspace and actively contributing to an incident-and-injury-free (IIF) safety culture.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Be able to weld in various positions and circumstances (vertical, horizontal and overhead)
  • Previous experience using mechanical or electronic tools (tape measures, saws, squares, calipers, etc.)
  • Ability to do formulas with fractions and decimals
  • Ability to work on your feet for 8+ hours and lift 40 or more pounds
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to safety and actively promotes our IIF culture of care and concern
  • Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm for contributing to a positive and inclusive work environment
  • Ability to multi task from one project to another

Responsibilities

  • Report to work ready to perform assigned tasks using established safe work practices and prescribed personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Use proper tools and equipment correctly; ask a supervisor before use if your knowledge or proficiency is questionable.
  • Attend and actively participate in all weekly safety toolbox meetings.
  • Immediately report all unsafe behaviors, conditions, near misses, incidents, and injuries to your supervisor, taking immediate action to prevent injury to fellow workers.
  • Participate in all required safety training, including ongoing health training and the Green Hard Hat Program if assigned.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with company standards.
  • Read and understand blueprints prior to starting a project.
  • Measure and cut materials according to exact specifications.
  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on project requirements.
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications.
  • Set up and operate hand and power tools common to the trade.
  • Operate an angle grinder to prepare parts before welding.
  • Operate specialized equipment after proper training and guidance, including overhead cranes, wet saws, oxy fuel torches, plasma cutters, and drills (hand, mag, and radial arm).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
