About The Position

The Weld Prep Operator cleans and prepares detail components and assemblies for welding, then performs post-weld cleaning and weld repair using general shop tools. Work must meet customer and STEICO drawings and specifications and follow STEICO’s documented manufacturing processes. The role operates pneumatic and bench tools, uses hand and calibrated measuring tools, and wipes down prepared parts with isopropyl alcohol and acetone. Other reasonable duties may be assigned according to business and operational needs. This is an AM shift position scheduled Monday through Thursday, 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. No experience is necessary; training is provided.

Requirements

High school diploma or General Education Completion.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to follow instructions and demonstrate responsibility and accountability.
Ability to work in a team environment and independently when needed.
Ability to communicate and interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, and knowledge of the decimal system.
Basic knowledge of computers.
Ability to access facts and develop conclusions.

Nice To Haves

Experience with metal or wood fabricating.
Experience working with pneumatic grinding or buffing tools.

Responsibilities

Clean and prepare detail components and assemblies for welding according to customer and STEICO drawings, specifications, and documented manufacturing processes.
Clean post-weld parts and repair welds using general shop tools.
Operate pneumatic tools, including die grinders, Dynabrader belt sanders, and pencil grinders.
Operate bench buffers and bench grinders.
Use hand tools such as deburring tools, files, and wire brushes.
Use calibrated tools such as dial calipers, depth gauges, snap gauges, and height gauges.
Wipe down prepared parts using isopropyl alcohol and acetone.
Follow company policies and procedures.
Perform other reasonable duties as business and operational needs dictate.
