About The Position

Gratz Pilates is seeking a hands-on Website Manager to take ownership of the Shopify Plus ecosystem for GratzPilates.com. This role involves managing theme code, product data, apps, shipping, checkout, and all connected systems. The ideal candidate will be the internal expert on the Shopify setup, capable of explaining technical trade-offs to non-technical colleagues and developing creative solutions. The position requires close collaboration with various departments, including product management, marketing, and customer service, while maintaining sole technical ownership. The focus is on building and extending the website to support a growing customer base and revenue, emphasizing scalable foundations and thorough testing over rapid, superficial changes. This role is suited for a self-driven, technically adept individual who enjoys contributing to team growth and success.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree
3-5 years of hands-on Shopify Plus development experience, including Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Proven track record working independently within an existing codebase and third-party app ecosystem.
Experience designing scalable product, template, or checkout structures with downstream dependencies in mind.
Solid SEO foundation, with curiosity about or experience in GEO/AI-search optimization.

Nice To Haves

Custom app development or API integration experience, especially around checkout or customer accounts.
Familiarity with PHP, particularly in the context of shipping or logistics apps.

Responsibilities

Build and publish new pages, landing pages, and site updates quickly and independently within the existing Shopify Liquid theme.
Build reusable templates and content structures (e.g., studio directory, blog, events page, maintenance provider page) to enable self-service content updates by non-technical colleagues.
Read and work within the existing codebase and related API/app connections, making careful edits, troubleshooting methodically, and identifying when deeper development support is needed.
Evaluate, install, configure, and troubleshoot third-party Shopify apps and integrations, determining when a plugin is appropriate versus custom coding.
Utilize AI tools to accelerate repetitive tasks, allowing more time for strategy, QA, and higher-value development.
Design product data structures (e.g., SKU architecture), templates, apps, and shipping/checkout rules with the entire Shopify flow and downstream dependencies in mind.
Anticipate the impact of changes on customer service, fulfillment, tax, or reporting and build accordingly.
Troubleshoot checkout-related issues in collaboration with Ops and Finance, identifying needs for custom app development or configuration fixes.
Manage the transition to Shopify's new customer accounts before the legacy sunset, assessing custom development or IT/agency support requirements.
Maintain and evolve shipping tables, rules, international requirements, and exceptions, proactively addressing edge cases.
Work with advanced configurations within the PHP-based shipping app.
Implement and manage on-site SEO and GEO (generative engine optimization), including page structure, keyword-aware content, internal linking, metadata, image optimization, schema, and performance, in coordination with an external agency.
Apply conversion-focused UX judgment to improve user experience across product pages, collections, cart, and checkout, aiming to increase conversion rates.
Exercise strong visual design and brand judgment, particularly for landing and collection pages, balancing functionality, search visibility, and aesthetic polish.
Serve as the primary expert on the Shopify ecosystem for product, customer service, and other teams.
Proactively identify and communicate potential downstream risks or friction points.
Translate technical trade-offs into clear, understandable terms for non-technical stakeholders.
