About The Position

The Web Content Assistant will support the unit’s Web Manager in preparing our website for the upcoming McGill WMS migration from Drupal 7 to Drupal 10. The role involves reviewing and updating existing webpages to ensure they meet McGill web standards and migration checklists, including improving accessibility (e.g., alt-text updates), refining page structure, removing outdated content (images and files), categorizing items (status) and ensuring consistent formatting and metadata. The successful candidate will primarily work within McGill’s content management system (Drupal CMS) and Microsoft Office 365, helping to streamline a large site to ensure a smooth and efficient update.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a CMS environment (Drupal or similar)
  • Strong understanding of core web design principles and best practices for accessibility, user experience and content organization
  • Organized with strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to follow structured checklists
  • Ability to perform technical tasks such as updating media tags, links, and layouts
  • Data (Microsoft Excel) and project management skills
  • Authorized to work in Canada
  • Willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based / located
  • English communication skills (verbal and written) at level 4 on a scale of 0-4
