About The Position

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in Information Technology or related field is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems (Windows, macOS), and common software applications.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in a professional or educational environment.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively assist users with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical troubleshooting skills daily to identify and resolve user issues efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Communication skills are essential for translating complex technical information into understandable guidance for end-users.
  • Organizational skills are applied in maintaining accurate records of IT assets and documenting procedures, which supports team collaboration and knowledge retention.
  • Familiarity with hardware and software systems enables the IT Assistant to assist in installations and upgrades confidently.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP).

  • Experience with Active Directory, remote desktop support tools, and ticketing systems.
  • Prior experience supporting a diverse user base in a corporate or institutional setting.
  • Basic scripting or automation skills to streamline routine IT tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level technical support to end-users by diagnosing and resolving telephones, hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Assist in the setup, configuration, and deployment of new computer systems, peripherals, and software applications.
  • Assist with new system implementation and upgrades.
  • Maintain and update IT inventory records, including hardware, software licenses, and user accounts.
  • Support routine maintenance tasks such as system updates, backups, and virus scans to ensure system integrity and security.
  • Collaborate with senior IT staff to escalate complex issues and participate in IT projects and upgrades as needed.
  • Document technical procedures, user guides, and troubleshooting steps to facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of software licensing, installations, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Monitor network performance and report anomalies or potential security threats to the IT management team.
  • Train new staff on technology systems, software applications, and network access.
