About The Position

At Voda Cleaning & Restoration of Northern New Jersey, we don't just dry buildings—we help people recover from some of the worst days of their lives. We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Restoration Crew Chief who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves, lead by example, make decisions in the field, and own every project from the initial inspection through the final walkthrough. As our Lead Restoration Crew Chief, you'll be responsible for managing emergency restoration projects while working alongside your crew. You'll communicate directly with homeowners, make field decisions, document every step, and ensure every project is completed safely, professionally, and according to IICRC standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of restoration experience.
  • Previous experience leading restoration crews.
  • Strong knowledge of water mitigation and mold remediation.
  • Working knowledge of IICRC S500 and S520 standards.
  • Ability to write scope and send to Xactimate writer team with pictures and be able to give overview of what is needed
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift 75+ pounds.
  • Ability to work in crawlspaces, attics, and other confined environments.
  • Ability to safely operate company vans, trucks, and restoration equipment.
  • Participates in an on-call rotation that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Flexibility, dependability, and a willingness to respond during emergency situations are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Restoration Projects
  • Respond to residential and commercial water, mold, fire, smoke, and odor losses.
  • Perform initial inspections and develop the field scope of work using IICRC S500 and S520 standards.
  • Explain the restoration process clearly and professionally to homeowners and customers.
  • Lead crews of 1–3 technicians while remaining actively involved in the work.
  • Adapt to changing jobsite conditions and solve problems in the field to keep projects moving.
  • Assess Category 1, 2, and 3 water losses.
  • Determine proper placement and quantity of air movers, dehumidifiers, air scrubbers, and drying equipment.
  • Perform moisture mapping and monitor drying progress.
  • Build containments and maintain negative air.
  • Perform proper flood cuts and selective demolition.
  • Remove damaged materials safely.
  • HEPA vacuum, clean, disinfect, and wipe structural framing.
  • Apply EPA-approved antimicrobial products.
  • Follow proper mold remediation procedures.
  • Wear and enforce appropriate PPE.
  • Thoroughly document every phase of every project through photos, moisture readings, and job notes.
  • Lead by example every day.
  • Train and mentor technicians.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and professionalism.
  • Maintain a positive jobsite culture.
  • Hold yourself and your team to high standards.
  • Maintain accurate job documentation in software tools: Learn our tools with True Restore (mapping software), Service Titan (scheduling software), DelightTree (training software)
  • Keep restoration equipment clean, organized, and deployment ready.
  • Keep company vehicles clean and professional at all times.
  • Help maintain a clean and organized warehouse/shop.
  • Participate in the daily team huddle beginning promptly at 7:45 AM in Bernardsville.
  • Be prepared to depart for the first job by approximately 8:30 AM.
