About The Position

This position performs skilled, semi-skilled, technical, and manual labor involving equipment preventative maintenance; process operations of wastewater treatment facilities, and other utility facilities. Wastewater Treatment Operator duties include operating and monitoring wastewater treatment plant processes and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations. This involves adjusting biological and chemical treatment processes based on data from analyzers, gauges, laboratory results, data trends, and SCADA systems, as well as collecting and recording samples for regulatory compliance and process control. You will perform routine inspections of plant equipment and facilities, operate pumps, motors, valves, and chemical feed systems, and maintain accurate operational logs and records. The role also involves identifying and troubleshooting equipment or process issues, assisting with preventive maintenance and overall facility upkeep, and responding to alarms, emergencies, and after-hours callouts as needed to support continuous 24/7 operations. This position requires working 12-hour shifts. Candidates must be willing and able to work nights, days, weekends, holidays, and respond to emergencies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Training in water or wastewater treatment operations (or equivalent knowledge of biology, chemistry, or related field), mechanical systems, or equipment maintenance preferred
  • Basic knowledge of mathematical principles and computer-controlled systems
  • Must pass the City background check
  • Must pass post-offer City physical
  • Must pass drug screen

Nice To Haves

  • One to two years of responsible experience in water and wastewater operation

Responsibilities
