About The Position
Levy at Churchill Downs is hiring seasonal, part-time Waiters/Waitresses for its Fall Racing Meet. The Fall meet runs from October 25 through November 29 and includes Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Team members who successfully complete the Fall Racing Meet may be invited to return for the Spring Racing Meet, which runs from April 24 through June 27 and includes the Kentucky Oaks, Kentucky Derby, and Downs After Dark. The role takes food and beverage orders and efficiently delivers items to dining-room guests. Waiters/Waitresses provide welcoming, attentive service, maintain food-safety and sanitation standards, and coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure orders and special requests are handled correctly. The position pays $16.67 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Promptly and warmly greet dining-room guests and take food and beverage orders while following established service steps.
- Deliver food promptly and professionally while maintaining safe food-handling and sanitation standards.
- Follow up with guests to address additional needs or requests.
- Understand menu items and ingredients, advise guests on food and drink combinations when requested, accommodate reasonable requests, and note preferences.
- Demonstrate knowledge of specialized diets and allergens as needed.
- Communicate with back-of-house staff to ensure orders are delivered correctly and special requests are accommodated.
- Communicate effectively and remain flexible and patient with guests and staff.
- Collect tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures.
- Promote a clean, safe, and neat environment for guests.
- Handle personal or medical information shared with sensitivity and confidentiality.
- Address complaints or issues promptly and relay relevant information to a supervisor.
- Set up the dining room before service and restore it afterward, keeping the area clean and meeting sanitation standards.
- Operate equipment including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea and soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines.
- Work with staff in other departments during special events and functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
