About The Position

LONG Building Technologies is looking for an experienced VRV/VRF HVAC Service Technician to join our Colorado service team. For over 60 years, LONG has helped commercial customers operate better buildings through HVAC service and equipment, building automation, security, and other building technology solutions. This is a specialized opportunity for an experienced commercial HVAC technician with strong VRV/VRF expertise. You'll primarily work independently, maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and installing commercial VRV and VRF systems while serving as a technical resource for customers and other technicians. A company vehicle, mobile phone, and PPE are provided to ensure you're equipped for the job.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience servicing commercial HVAC systems.
  • 3+ years of experience installing and servicing commercial VRV/VRF systems.
  • Valid CFC / EPA 608 refrigeration certification.
  • Advanced understanding of commercial heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, refrigeration, and/or electrical systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of commercial VRV/VRF systems.
  • Strong refrigeration-cycle troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently and resolve complex system issues.
  • Ability to safely and legally operate a company vehicle.
  • Ability to work after hours when needed.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel, with the ability to learn additional software.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Daikin VRV Service and Troubleshooting training or similar manufacturer-specific VRV/VRF training.
  • Advanced experience diagnosing complex commercial VRV/VRF systems.
  • Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other HVAC technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial VRV and VRF HVAC systems.
  • Diagnose refrigeration-cycle issues and make corrections to improve system performance and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot VRV/VRF systems involving power wiring, unit controls, motors, blowers, fans, bearings, refrigeration, gas and electric heat, economizers, VAV boxes, and fan-powered boxes.
  • Perform advanced VRV/VRF equipment installation, start-up, and service.
  • Work with copper and steel piping, sheet metal ducting, electrical connections, gas hookups, hydronic connections, and equipment hanging.
  • Assist with crane direction and equipment start-ups when required.
  • Serve as a technical resource on difficult or complex VRV/VRF service problems.
  • Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to less-experienced technicians.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, including filter changes, bearing lubrication, refrigerant pressure checks, and burner adjustments.
  • Participate in ongoing manufacturer and technical training to stay current with VRV/VRF technology.
  • Accurately complete required service documentation.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with customers, technicians, dispatch, sales, and management.
  • Follow company safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment.
