VP, Product

About The Position

The VP, Product owns the product vision and roadmap for PEAK6 Capital Management, including the platforms, tools, and AI agents used by the trading desk. The role measures success by improvements in trader performance, efficiency, and risk, and leads the transition from software traders operate to systems that work alongside them. The VP decides where agents can act autonomously, where people remain involved, and how trust in agent workflows is built and evaluated. The role also leads an agent-native product team, using AI to accelerate research, prototyping, requirements, testing, and analysis. It begins with product leadership for Capital Management and is expected to expand across PEAK6 as the product model is proven, including direct or dotted-line leadership of product across other businesses. The position reports to the CTO and can be based in the Chicago, New York City, or Austin offices, with a preference for Chicago. PEAK6 operates as a hybrid workforce, with employees able to work remotely up to two days a week.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of product management experience, including several years as a product lead and end-to-end roadmap ownership.
  • A track record of shipping products that users adopted and that produced measurable business outcomes.
  • Ability to form and defend evidence-based product opinions, explain what should or should not be built, and revise decisions when data warrants.
  • Ability to set a multi-year product direction and also write requirements and test releases hands-on.
  • Hands-on fluency with AI and agents, including daily use in personal work and experience building or shipping products where AI performs substantive work.
  • Sound judgment on agent autonomy and trust, including evaluating agent performance, designing human-in-the-loop controls, and expanding autonomy as evidence builds.
  • Credibility with expert users: ability to understand their work, earn their trust, and push back when a request is not the right solution.
  • Technical depth to partner with Engineering on architecture, data, and integration tradeoffs and identify problematic shortcuts.
  • Comfort working quickly amid ambiguity, multiple high-stakes efforts, and shifting priorities.
  • Builder's instinct combined with the ability to establish the processes, cadence, and transparency needed for reliable delivery.
  • Ability to make decisions with incomplete information, own outcomes, and move work forward without waiting for perfect clarity.
  • Ability to treat internal users as customers and focus on adoption and user benefit.
  • Ability to remain constructive under pressure, high feedback volume, and stakeholder dissatisfaction.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a regulated environment, working with Risk, Compliance, and Legal as design partners.
  • Experience in trading or financial markets, particularly options, OMS, EMS, or risk systems.
  • A perspective on how trading workflows should evolve, beyond how they have traditionally worked.
  • Ambition and interest in leading product across multiple businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product vision and roadmap for the trading desk, tying major bets to measurable outcomes in trader performance, efficiency, or risk.
  • Decide what to build, defer, or stop, and take accountability for the results.
  • Balance stakeholder needs without becoming an order taker; run the roadmap as experiments, test risky assumptions, and scale or stop initiatives based on evidence.
  • Define and ship agents that monitor markets and positions, surface ideas, stage orders, and automate follow-through across OMS, EMS, and risk platforms.
  • Set agent autonomy levels, including when agents act independently, make recommendations, or require trader confirmation, and determine what evidence is needed to expand autonomy.
  • Design trust into products through evaluation, guardrails, audit trails, explainability, and clear handoffs between agents and people, in partnership with Risk and Compliance.
  • Find and remove manual touchpoints across the trade lifecycle, choosing among process changes, agents, buying or partnering, and new development.
  • Build an agent-first product team that uses AI to accelerate discovery, prototyping, requirements, testing, and analysis.
  • Partner with Engineering through initiation, build/buy/partner analysis, design, testing, release, and adoption.
  • Contribute directly to requirements, testing, and release when needed.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a lean team of product managers, setting clear goals and high standards and developing future product leaders.
  • Create a product operating model and agentic playbook that can be applied in other PEAK6 businesses.
  • Over time, take on broader PEAK6 product leadership, including direct or dotted-line oversight of smaller businesses, and share platforms, patterns, and lessons across the group.
