About The Position

The Vice President, Programs will be responsible for executing all programs within contractual requirements, ensuring project cost, schedule, and technical performance goals are met or exceeded. This role involves serving as the primary point of contact for key clients, managing program budgets, and identifying opportunities for profit margin improvement. The VP will lead and mentor a team of program managers, foster innovation and accountability, and collaborate with various internal teams to ensure successful program delivery. Additionally, the role includes defining and executing a long-term strategic vision for program management, driving business development, and ensuring compliance with government contracting requirements and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in the aerospace and defense industry
  • 7–10 years in senior leadership roles managing multi-year aerospace programs exceeding $10M in annual revenue
  • Track record of successfully overseeing programs with budgets above $25M
  • BS degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical) or Business from an accredited university
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Leadership skills to include the ability to motivate, mentor, and inspire others, training them on the correct use of tools and processes

Nice To Haves

  • Cost accounting or financial analysis experience preferred
  • Direct experience with military aerospace programs preferred

Responsibilities

  • Execute all programs within contractual requirements to ensure that the project cost, schedule, and technical performance goals are met or exceeded
  • Utilize Earned Value Management to review and report program financial and schedule status frequently
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, building and maintaining strong relationships to drive repeat business
  • Manage program budget forecasting, resource planning, and financial performance tracking
  • Identify opportunities to improve profit margins for individual programs and/or processes throughout the organization
  • Lead and mentor a team of program managers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and excellence
  • Collaborate with sales, finance, engineering, planning, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to deliver programs on schedule and within budget
  • Define and execute a long-term strategic vision for program management, including technology roadmaps and market positioning
  • Drive business development initiatives, including identifying new market opportunities and crafting competitive proposals
  • Ensure compliance with government contracting requirements, industry standards, and regulatory frameworks (AS9100, FAA, DoD)
