About The Position

VisibleThread is hiring a VP of IT, Support & DevOps to lead the teams responsible for securely delivering its software into production and keeping customers running across VisibleThread’s cloud, AWS GovCloud, and customer-managed environments. The role reports to the CEO, serves on the Senior Leadership Team, and leads the DevOps and Support teams. The VP will own VisibleThread’s AWS GovCloud environment and compliance posture, including FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, and SOC 2; production releases for both hosted and customer-hosted software; cloud operations across commercial AWS and GovCloud; secure SDLC, vulnerability management, CI/CD, and developer tooling; and customer support, including final escalation for on-premise and restricted environments. The role is also the company’s technical voice with customers and prospects, an adviser to strategic customers, and responsible for building and developing the DevOps and Support teams. VisibleThread builds document-intelligence software for proposal, bid, and compliance teams in government agencies, defense contractors, and regulated enterprises. Customers can run the software in VisibleThread’s cloud, AWS GovCloud, private cloud, on premises, or in air-gapped environments. The role is based in the Virginia/Washington, DC metro area and is remote-friendly, with regular overlap with the Ireland-based team and a requirement to work from the Tysons Corner offices when required; on-site expectations are to be confirmed.

Requirements

12+ years of experience in software, DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering.
5+ years leading technical teams, ideally across operations and customer support.
Hands-on ownership of a FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, or similar government compliance program; AWS GovCloud experience is ideal.
Deep experience running production workloads on AWS, including availability, incident management, observability, and cost.
Experience with CI/CD and secure SDLC, including SBOM, dependency and static scanning, and remediation SLAs.
Experience supporting software that customers run on premises.
Enough Java/Spring experience to be credible with engineers.
Comfort as a customer-facing technical leader.
Experience leading remote teams across time zones.
Experience using AI to automate operations, support, or developer workflows.
US citizenship.

Nice To Haves

Microsoft 365 GCC/GCC High or other US government cloud experience.
Experience with Datadog or similar tools.
Experience as the accountable owner in a FedRAMP assessment.

Responsibilities

Own the AWS GovCloud environment and its compliance posture, including FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, and SOC 2.
Own releases from engineering into production for VisibleThread’s cloud and customer-hosted deployments.
Run cloud operations across commercial AWS and GovCloud, including availability, observability, incident response, and cost.
Lead the secure SDLC, vulnerability management, CI/CD, and developer tooling.
Lead Support and serve as the final escalation point for customer issues, including on-premise and restricted environments.
Build and develop the DevOps and Support teams.
Serve as VisibleThread’s technical voice with customers and prospects and as a technical adviser to strategic customers.
