VP, Data Products & Solutions

About The Position

At Compass, our mission is to help everyone find their place in the world. Founded in 2012, we’re revolutionizing the real estate industry with our end-to-end platform that empowers residential real estate agents to deliver exceptional service to seller and buyer clients. This is not a maintenance role. It is an innovator's mandate. We are looking for a Vice President of Data Products & Solutions to lead — and own — one of the most consequential transformations in real estate: converting Compass International Holdings' unmatched proprietary data estate into a dual-capability product engine — one that powers the enterprise from the inside and generates commercial revenue from the outside. You and your team will hold that mandate end to end. At the center of this mandate is a deliberate philosophy: value engineering. Every product, dashboard, API, and data experience we build must have value designed into it from the ground up — not audited for value after launch. Our primary internal customer is the agent. When we earn their trust by making them demonstrably better at their craft, that excellence compounds: internal operations sharpen, our economic and market research gains authority, and the foundation for external commercial products becomes undeniable. This flywheel runs on trust. Compass makes an unconditional commitment to our agents: their client data and sensitive business information will never be sold, shared, or exposed — to competitors, third parties, or commercial buyers. That promise is not a constraint on our data strategy. It is the foundation of it. Agents who trust us with their most sensitive relationships give us permission to build more deeply for them — and that depth is what creates durable competitive advantage. You will own the full product vision, strategy, and P&L across two distinct portfolios: Internal Enablement — tools that fuel FP&A, recruiting, brokerage operations, and agent productivity — and External Commercial Products — monetized data pipelines via API for institutional buyers and hedge funds, proprietary AI training datasets, and authoritative economic research models. Your mandate is direct: deliver world-class product experiences that agents cannot live without, and convert that adoption into measurable EBITDA contribution while building external revenue streams that make our data estate a standalone commercial asset. If you've spent your career turning data organizations from cost centers into growth engines — and you want to do it at the scale of an industry — this is the role.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in Product Management, with at least 3 years in a VP or executive role leading a data product organization
  • Demonstrated track record of converting a data org, analytics team, or technical cost center into a direct revenue driver — not just a strategy, but a result
  • Value Engineering Mindset: You approach product design as an act of value creation, not feature delivery. You design for financial outcomes, unit economics, and operational ROI from the first whiteboard session
  • Proven Visual Storytelling Mastery: A portfolio demonstrating world-class data visualization judgment — products and interfaces that convey complex insights elegantly, intuitively, and without prose as a crutch
  • Entrepreneurial P&L Experience Across Both Sides: Demonstrated success scaling internal productivity platforms — FP&A, HR, operations — and direct-revenue external commercial products: API pipelines for institutional clients, AI training datasets, or monetized research
  • Data Ethics & Agent Trust: You understand that privacy is not a compliance checkbox — it is a product principle. You know how to build commercial value from aggregate intelligence while maintaining an absolute firewall around individual client and agent data
  • Fluency in modern data stack architecture — Databricks, BigQuery, Kafka, dbt, API design — enough to earn the trust of your engineering partners and challenge their assumptions
  • The executive presence and storytelling range to brief a board of directors, pitch an institutional data buyer, and demo a visual feature to a top-producing agent — sometimes in the same week
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Economics, Business, or a related quantitative field; MBA a plus but not a gate

Responsibilities

  • Develop and champion a compelling product vision that creates organizational clarity, generates energy, and accelerates the delivery of value across every team you lead.
  • Drive financial impact across both internal and external product lines.
  • Build high-adoption tools for agents, FP&A, recruiting, and brokerage operations that sharpen enterprise execution and reduce operational cost.
  • Commercialize enterprise data assets through B2B API pipelines for institutional buyers, structured AI training datasets, and monetized economic research — turning proprietary signals into direct revenue.
  • Instill a "Data as a Product" operating model where value creation, unit economics, and cost rationalization are architected into every solution before engineering begins — shifting the culture permanently from ticket-driven execution to outcome-driven product thinking.
  • Set an uncompromising standard for data visualization across every product surface. Turn complex, high-volume datasets into clean, self-explanatory visual experiences that deliver instant clarity to boardroom executives, top-producing agents, and institutional buyers alike — insights that tell their story without requiring a user manual.
  • Maintain an unconditional firewall around individual agent and client data while leveraging aggregate platform intelligence to power external products and industry-defining research. Understand that this distinction is not a legal obligation — it is the strategic moat.
  • Operate as a peer to C-suite leadership — translating complex data capabilities into business strategy and representing the data product organization at the highest levels of the enterprise.
  • Collaborate deeply across Engineering, Finance, Operations, Marketing, and Business Unit leadership to ensure data products are embedded in — not adjacent to — the decisions that drive the company forward.
  • Lead the internal marketing of your team's work — making the value creation and evolution of the data product organization visible, understood, and celebrated across the enterprise.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a world-class team of product managers and product leaders.
  • Build a culture defined by user empathy, disciplined discovery, visual craft, and quantitative accountability.
