About The Position

SMBC Group is seeking a Senior Analytics Developer to design, develop, and implement business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI. The role works closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze data, and deliver insights that support informed decision-making. Responsibilities also include supporting reports, dashboards, and schedules for EMEA and North American users, and training and supporting end users in self-service analytics and reporting.

Requirements

3–5 years of experience as an analytics developer specializing in Power BI.
Proficiency with Power Query and DAX.
Degree-level education, preferably in an IT-related discipline, or significant industry experience.
Knowledge of, and willingness and ability to adapt to, new analytics technologies.
Strong understanding of relational and dimensional databases and ability to query databases to troubleshoot reporting issues.
Ability to apply clean user-interface and dashboard design principles.
Ability to absorb and present complex ideas quickly and accurately.
Ability to deliver solutions to tight deadlines.
Good prioritization and time-management skills.
Positive approach to work and fellow team members.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

Experience using Denodo.
Experience utilizing APIs.
Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure.
Exposure to PowerApps and Power Automate.
Hands-on experience with Power BI on-premises enterprise data gateways.
Experience with other BI tools, such as Tableau or Cognos.

Responsibilities

Design and develop end-to-end business intelligence solutions in Microsoft Power BI, including data modeling, data integration, and reports and dashboards.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and create efficient, visually appealing Power BI reports and dashboards.
Develop complex Power BI data models for accurate and efficient analysis and visualization.
Profile and analyze data to identify quality issues, inconsistencies, and anomalies, and work with stakeholders to address them.
Create and maintain data connections and ETL processes to load data from various sources into Power BI.
Optimize report and dashboard performance and usability by tuning queries, using efficient data models, and applying best practices.
Implement security measures and access controls to meet data security and compliance standards in Power BI.
Integrate Power BI with other systems and data sources, including on-premises and cloud-based platforms.
Stay current with Power BI and related technologies and apply relevant advancements to enhance BI solutions.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior Power BI developers.
Provide production support for reports, dashboards, and schedules serving EMEA and North American users.
Train and support end users and promote self-service analytics and reporting for non-technical business users.
