About The Position

SMBC Group is seeking a Senior Analytics Developer to design, develop, and implement business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI. The developer will work with business stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze data, and deliver insights that support decision-making. The role also provides production support for reports, dashboards, and schedules serving EMEA and North American users, and trains and supports end users in developing self-service analytics and reporting solutions.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience as an analytics developer specializing in Power BI.
• Proficiency in Power Query and DAX.
• Degree-level education, preferably in an IT-related discipline, or significant industry experience.
• Knowledge of and willingness and ability to adapt to new analytics technologies.
• Strong understanding of relational and dimensional databases and ability to query databases to troubleshoot reporting issues.
• Strong user interface and dashboard design principles.
• Ability to absorb and present complex ideas quickly and accurately.
• Ability to deliver solutions to tight deadlines.
• Good prioritization and time-management skills.
• Positive approach to work and fellow team members.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

• Experience using Denodo.
• Experience utilizing APIs.
• Experience with cloud-based platforms, preferably Azure.
• Exposure to PowerApps and Power Automate.
• Hands-on experience with Power BI on-premises enterprise data gateways.
• Experience with other BI tools such as Tableau or Cognos.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop end-to-end business intelligence solutions in Microsoft Power BI, including data modeling, data integration, reports, and dashboards.
• Work with stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and create efficient, visually appealing reports and dashboards.
• Develop complex Power BI data models for accurate and efficient analysis and visualization.
• Profile and analyze data to identify quality issues, inconsistencies, and anomalies, and work with stakeholders to resolve them.
• Create and maintain data connections and ETL processes that extract, transform, and load data from various sources into Power BI.
• Improve report and dashboard performance and usability by tuning queries, implementing efficient data models, and applying best practices.
• Implement appropriate Power BI security measures and access controls to meet data security and compliance standards.
• Integrate Power BI with other systems and data sources, including on-premises and cloud-based platforms.
• Keep up with developments in Power BI and related technologies and apply them to improve BI solutions.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior Power BI developers.
• Provide production support for reports, dashboards, and schedules used by EMEA and North American users.
• Train and support end users and enable non-technical business users to build analytics and reporting solutions.
