About The Position

Reporting directly to the Elections Administrator, this position is responsible for the coding of paper and electronic ballots for the Williamson County Elections department. The role involves preparing, testing, troubleshooting, and coordinating repairs for voting equipment. The position also handles the tabulation of ballots, creation of election results reports, and processing information requests for tabulation data. Additionally, the analyst will gather and proof election ballot language, perform state-mandated tabulation tests, and manage testing members. The role includes preparing and inventorying programming media for voting equipment, assisting supervisors with programming and testing, and coordinating annual maintenance of voting equipment. The analyst will manage election setup and ballot creation within the appropriate system, generate ballot proofs, and pre-test ballots. They will also set up public logic and accuracy tests, coordinate and supervise personnel for these tests, and provide basic installation and troubleshooting support for voting system hardware, software, and network components. The position assists in creating and using ballot style tables, catalogs and prepares media, and serves as an IT Department liaison. The analyst provides election reports to the Secretary of State, assists on Election Day with phone support, configures and maintains election system programming databases, and assists Operations staff with inventory. Communication with poll workers and the public is frequent, and the analyst serves as a primary contact for the election judge's hotline. Cross-training with office staff is expected to ensure departmental continuity. FUNDING FOR THIS POSITION WILL BE EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2026.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Information Technology or related field and four (4) years of experience performing database programming or related IT experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of and skill in database and spreadsheet programs.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license (Required within thirty (30) days of employment).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field.
  • Extensive experience working with database software.
  • Prior experience working in Elections and/or public-sector environment.
  • Registered Election Official (REO) certification within two (2) years of employment.
  • Certified Election/Registration Administrator (CERA) within five (5) years of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Coding of paper and electronic ballots for the Williamson County Elections department.

  • Coordinates, recruits, trains, and oversees personnel for required Public Logic & Accuracy testing of the voting equipment.
  • Provides basic installation and troubleshooting support for voting system hardware, software, and network components.
  • Assists in creation and use of ballot style tables for manual ballot assignment procedures.
  • Catalogs and prepares media for voting and tabulation equipment.
  • Serves as a department IT Department liaison and assist with implementing software, performing routine maintenance, performing inventory control and identifying functionality issues.
  • Provides various election reports to the Secretary of state for primary and general elections via web portal prescribed by the state.
  • Provides assistance on Election Day with phone support for election officials: troubleshoot technical issues and participate in election night work activities.
  • Configures, maintain, and retain backups of all election system programming databases in accordance with local, state and federal laws.
  • Assists the Operations staff in maintaining proper stock levels and inventory methods.
  • Communicates frequently via telephone, e-mail, and in person with poll workers and the general public.
  • Serves as a primary contact for the election Judge’s hotline and assists with complex issues from elections judges and staff.
  • Cross-trains with office staff in other areas to ensure continuity of departmental operations.
  • Attends all meetings and trainings, as required.
  • Performs special duties as assigned.
